2014-2015On Wednesday 30th October 2013 Southport Fell Walking Club Members met in St George's Hall, Lord Street, Southport for their Annual General Meeting. It was encouraging to see 62 Members out of a total of 150 members turning out for this meeting.

Chairman, Mr Gerry Harrison, welcomed the Members and thanked them for their continued support of the Club, not just at this meeting but throughout the year. Former members of the club who had died during the year were remembered during a minute's silence.

The Committee were thanked for their hard work during the year which ensured the smooth running of the club. A gift was presented to the Auditors Messrs. Paul Cutner and Ken Davis (in his absence) who for many years have so generously monitored the club's finances.

The Chairman was pleased that so many walks had run so smoothly and hoped that it would contine.

A range of social activities was offered throughout the year and all events were successful. Weekends away too were enjoyably shared by a large number of members - thanks to Anne and Pam.

All members of the present Committee were prepared to stand again and were readily reappointed.

A fuller version of the Chairman's report can be seen below.

Finally the Chairman thanked Alan Williams for his contribution to the Meeting. It was particularly appreciated as Alan had scarcely unpacked his rucksack after his return from South America before he was presenting this illustrated account of his successful ascent of some of the highest peaks in Bolivia. A very enjoyable and inspiring story.

Next year’s AGM will be held at 7.30 on Wednesday 29th October 2014
